Kizhi

Kizhi

Ayurvedic (Indian) procedures at the ARPANA Ayurvedic Medical Center

Kizhi is an Ayurvedic massage of the body with poultices filled with healing herbs and with the use of therapeutic oils. During the course of this Ayurvedic procedure, the poultices are periodically warmed in therapeutic oils and herbal decoctions. The therapists apply them to the body, spread them, and massage according to strict Ayurvedic principles developed over 4000 years ago. The oil, penetrating to the tissues, dissolves the accumulated toxins within them, and the body is filled with strength and lightness.

The result is a profoundly penetrating action, warming, and concentration of the energy on particular zones of the body. The blood then carries this energy throughout the whole body, giving an impulse for healing and renewal. The special technique that is used allows the mind and emotions to be harmonized, and removes fatigue and mental tension.

This course of treatment is used in cases of joint illness and athletic injuries.
